How do you make emotions less scary to talk about?

"I don't have the time to talk about emotions." - a caring, compassionate pediatrician

Don't you know it! We're all on the same page, thinking we don't have the time to even start about emotions.

I mean, emotions are ICKY, UNCOMFORTABLE, it's like opening Pandora's Box to ask someone about their emotions.

Actually, it's not.

That's just our efficient and yes, scared, brain talking. It's the one that hasn't had the experience of truly being curious (emotion!) and vulnerable (emotion!) and open (emotion!) to connect (action here, but also emotion) with others in this way.

I offered to the pediatrician that perhaps we don't have the time NOT to get curious about emotions. We're turning a blind eye and overlooking the driver for all of our behaviors, habits, relationships and ultimately our health. And in order to do that, we have to start getting comfortable with the conversation around emotions.

So how do we make it accessible?

Well, you know me: I play.

Yes, I play with emotions. Not in a creepy, messing-with-people kind of way, but in a lets-experiment-see-what-we-can-create-and-explore-here kind of way.

Introducing:

"All Feelings are Welcome"

I've been playing with kids and adults at events over the past few years at local events with my Wheel of Emotions and parents RAVE about how we are suddenly having their kids talking about emotions. And adults are too!

So I created a hand-held version of the game.

The spinner wheel is so much fun (think fidget-spinner, but with emotions!).

Every game card comes with an instruction sheet for 4 games AND electronic access to an ever-expanding list of games. We are currently at 6 games accessible in the app.
